Pat Blythe – Bob’s Birthday Bash
….and oh what a bash it was. Yes, I’ve known his nibs for 39 years and counting. In and out of touch over the years, the friendship continues on. We all have our “Bob stories”, there are literally thousands of them. However, I prefer to live “in the now” as they (whoever ‘they’ are) keep suggesting. My husband’s favourite saying was, “be here now” and quite frankly, here now is the best place to be.
My story ‘of the now’ is all the truly wonderful people I have met and connected with over the past year, all because of Bob. ….and quite frankly, all our stories lead back to him. Bob is our connection to each other and for that we had the greatest pleasure celebrating his 70 years on this earth with each other.
The party was an absolute blast! The popcorn, the music, the people (little ones and big ones), balloons, dancing, yes….lots of dancing, the band….I could go on…. I will take this moment, however, to deeply apologize to the young lady whose toe I danced on (in three inch heels) as I took a step back. I truly felt that one and wherever you are, I owe you a drink or two at the very least. All of you were amazingly patient having a camera stuck in your face every few minutes. Almost 2,000 pics were taken and I’ve spent the better part of several evenings and over the weekend “culling the herd”. I promise not to embarrass anyone. Xprime….incredible….you guys are THE best. Stef, Neil, Phil and Gab, always, always keep the joy in your hearts.
Cherish, you are truly the “hostess with the mostess”. You are always so gracious with a smile on your face and big hug in your heart. A fantastically brilliant evening and best of all, Bob had a really, really, really good time.
Happy Birthday Bob!! We are wishing you many, many more.

In “real” life Pat Blythe has spent the past 32 years as a consultant and design specialist in the telecommunications industry. After an extended absence Pat is now heading back to the GTA clubs, immersing herself in the local music scene, tasting what’s on offer, talking to people and writing once again — sharing her passions and her deep love of music. Together for 34 years, Pat also worked alongside her late husband
Christopher Blythe, The PictureTaker©, who shot much of the local talent (think Goddo, Frank Soda and the Imps, Plateau, Buzzsaw, Hellfield….) as well as national and international acts, Currently making her way through 40 years of Chris’s archives, Pat is currently compiling a photographic history of the local GTA music scene from 1975 to 1985. It continues to be a work in progress. Oh…..and she LOVES to dance!
