Chef Tom says A-WA to Falastin’s Fine Cuisine
Put on some warm socks, sit your lounge-pants-t-shirt-covid-haircut down in front of your computer (like you ever left), grab a cup of tea, or coffee, or a cocktail (the boss ain’t here anymore), and give this a watch. Sami Tamimi is the business partner of my favorite chef Yotam Ottolenghi. He and Tara wrote a beautiful cookbook (which I now own) called Falastin (pronounced Palestine).

The chicken and the salad are so yummy they made it onto my birthday party menu last month. The rolls are a bonus.

In keeping with the Middle East theme …
This trio of sisters is an amazing find. Their music not only has an wonderful beat, but I find it very moving.
A-WA (Arabic for Yes) is an Israeli band made up of the three sisters Tair, Liron, and Tagel Haim. Their single “Habib Galbi” (Love of My Heart) became a world hit, with its Yemenite traditional music mixed with hip-hop and electronic music.
ON THAT NOTE

A-WA – “Habib Galbi”
A-WA – “Hana Mash Hu Al Yaman”
A-WA – “Mudbira”
BONUS TRACK – love the musicality of this group. So precise.
