People are fascinated by Lists. Just one more oddity we share along with the obsession we all have of being unable to stop ourselves from posting an opinion about things we know little or nothing about on Social Media, and waiting until you are in the front of the line at Burger King before deciding what you want, thereby pissing off every person behind you in line who knew what they wanted before they walked in the front door.

Segarini – Yesterday, Rocketman, and Beyond

Before you read this week’s mumble, you would do yourself a favour by clicking on this Little Red Link and read what led me to write this.

Clearly, the Entertainment Gods have counted the take from Bohemian Rhapsody and, for better or worse, we are in for a rash (and I DO mean RASH) of nostalgic rewritten accounts of our Rock and Roll Heroes lives.

…and judging from what I’ve seen so far, they may include some music you love, but they seem unable to get the locations, timelines, and bit players even remotely right. So the less you know about these people and places, the less likely you will choke on your 20 dollar bag of popcorn when you see a microphone from 1985 being whipped around by Elvis, a song written in 1975 being sung in 1970, and a nightclub the size of a janitor’s closet re-imagined as a cavernous concert hall, and a man as tall as an NBA centre reduced to the size of a gay piano player.

It’s a beautiful Spring day. The birds are chirping, the bees are pollinating, the  irritated bowel syndrome is nowhere to be seen, the rent is paid, the hair is shampoo’d and conditioned, lunch awaits my ravenous appetite, celery prices are dropping, my SmartShare is working, kittens are amusing people all over the world, overpaid plumbers display their butt cracks with impunity, women are buying sundresses, you can still buy real meat, Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives has been renewed for another 70 years, Mothers get their yearly day tomorrow, and the ONLY thing missing from your perfect day …is THIS.

Musicians acting up is old news if you know your history. The entire concept of excess and above-the-law behavior started long before some high school dropout teased his hair or refused to get some much-needed dental work.

If you want to go to the Grandaddy of excessive, over-the top, entitlement, look no further than Johann Strauss Jr. ….

I’m not sure if I’m blessed or cursed to have a fairly large amount of time in my life in which I can spend hours down the rabbit hole of the Internet, researching and following any thread that interests me.

I can spend days, even weeks,  deep diving into all things esoteric and non. In an ideal world, I would live in a salon, where others of like minds would join me in this intellectual pursuit, and we would solve all of the mysteries of the universe.

I am surrounded, lady-rounded and all the little roundeds by music and rhythm…..whether it’s listening to the 600+ songs my phone shuffles through, pounding a beat on my steering wheel, hearing the thumpa thumpa of somebody’s sound system as they cruise past, wending my way through a nightclub, wearing headphones and walking to the beat, banging on my drums or simply humming the tunes that run through my head. Music….always a part of my life, always with me, I have become increasingly aware of how much it affects our lives. I’m not going to get into the science of it, suffice to say music has a very large impact on our well-being, especially our brain and our heart’s well-being.
