A blank page. I’m staring at a blank page. (ok, not anymore). A few words have appeared. It’s not the dearth of things to write about, it’s the overabundance.

So far so good. Although spring was a relative flash-in-the-pan, with the bitter cold of this past winter still fresh in our memories, everyone has been thrilled to see summer arrive early. Tourist season is now in “full on” mode (please share the sidewalks everyone….standing smack in the middle is not the spot to have a conversation), patios are just buzzing, my backyard looks the best it’s ever been and the sunny days are predicted to continue right through the fall months. I’ll take it while I can but I still want snow for Christmas and New Year. Then we can go back to summer. The city is humming (literally) so, on your mark, get set…..GO!

How do I know. Google Doodle. Longboat’s Iroquois name….Cogwagee…..part of the Onondaga which means Keepers of The Fire. Longboat was born in 1887 and raised on the Six Nations Reserve near Brantford. Enrolled (a legal obligation under the Indian Act) at the Mohawk Institutional Residential School at the age of 12 he eventually escaped to an uncle’s home who agreed to hide him from the authorities. A long-distance runner, Longboat is considered by many to be the greatest marathoner of all time.

Some go for the conferences, some are all about the music. Still others go for the trade show and the mentoring. But me – I go to people watch.
Like, on the first day I hit the Sheraton, to pick up my pass and get the lay of the land. Some people were looking for their friends, or checking out those who tend to get their names in newspaper bold face … Me, I was in the lobby of the crowded Sheraton Hotel, watching a young male couple dress their teensy tiny pocket puppy in all new Hudson’s Bay swag.

My fingers seem to have a mind of their own. I have a list that I don’t seem to follow. Bits and pieces of paper with notes scribbled on them scattered all over the house. Something exciting, new, interesting or completely distracting seems to pop up and my focus is once again altered and my direction changes (squirrel!). FB is providing some fuel to this fire. Here are a few items that caught my attention.
