With apologies to Al Franken, I am utterly sick of Lies and the Lying Liars That Tell Them. Sick to death of the posturing, the gaslighting, the sneaky grins that escape their mouths when they think we can’t see them.

There are days when it feels like we were playing a spirited game of Rummoli only yesterday, and other days when I can’t remember what it was like to have my own little family. After my mum and grandmother died just days apart in that horrible year, the tenuous link we had with Montreal was broken. While I’ve been ‘home’ a few times since then, Quebec hasn’t really drawn me back for decades.

I’m now one week away from leaving the house I entered so joyously, seventeen years ago last July. The last three months have been an education, in so many ways.
So I can’t stay long. BUT – I do want to share some insights I found about life in general in a book I finished reading, just this morning. It’s over 600 pages, so most of you will not ever find the time to get through it. It took me three weeks, just grabbing idle moments as they came, to get to the end, and I’m a speed reader!
The book is called “The Nix,” by Nathan Hill.

It’s been simultaneously exhausting and exhilarating. I won’t lie … my feet hurt, I’ve got a desk covered in CDs, business cards, and promotional bumpf of all stripes … and I’m relieved that I don’t have to do anything more strenuous than type this recap of the festivities. Although there are a few more events tonight …
Segarini: Stuff on my Radar
Posted in Opinion with tags Bob Lefsetz, Canadian Music Week, Cherry Cola's, DBAWIS, Don't Believe a Word I Say, Gene Simmons, music, Music Discovery, radio, segarini, Television, Toronto on March 4, 2013 by segariniI have a very nice television. Two, actually. One in the living room, and one in the bedroom. Except for the 2012 Presidential election, the only time I have turned either one of them on has been for the Food Channel, which features my favourite kind of porn. Oddly enough, I watch more television than I ever have in my life.
I just don’t watch it on TV….

Segarini: Canadian Music Week – Risking Your Liver for Rock and Roll
Posted in Opinion with tags Bob Lefsetz, Canadian Music Fest, Canadian Music Week, Cherry Cola's, DBAWIS, Don't Believe a Word I Say, Fairmont Royal York Hotel, segarini on March 19, 2012 by segariniWell, for the first time in living memory, the weather for Canadian Music Week does not include a snowstorm, monsoon, or a downpour of frogs. We may get a little rain, but what’s a little rain when you won’t catch pneumonia going outside for a smoke. In fact the only really serious cloud hanging over anybody’s head at CMW this year will be the good folks at Astral waiting to see if they will be disconnected by Bell before the end of the year.
