One thing the nine months of The Eternal COVID Darkness has given us is a short reprieve from the rampaging assault of shopping mall music. Without the frequent stops at the McMall a few times a week to lose hours of one’s life jockeying for parking, hitting the food courts, and indulging in one’s fetish for window shopping at stores no one can afford, we have been spared music dialed in from Satan’s radio station itself.

I can’t remember the last time I spent Christmas with Family.
…and I can’t remember the last time I spent Christmas with my daughter…and I have never spent Christmas with my Grandkids.
…but I am spending Christmas with Amy, Tilda, and Marshall THIS Christmas…and you have no idea how incredible and wonderful that is.

This year we’ve been blessed with warm weather. That’s certainly a bummer for many but I’ve never considered snow the defining aspect of Christmas. Snow or not, I still view it as a magical time of year.

I’m staying home with my immediate family – my beautiful wife, my beautiful son and my beautiful daughter who is home from University (yeah, that 11 Km trek from the suburbs will be a huge sacrifice!) in my rustic World War II bungalow which isn’t quite as enticing as the one David Byrne talks about in “Once In a Lifetime” but has its own cottage-like charm. I am starting a new tradition – one that allows me the luxury of not having to battle it out between two sides of the family for a change.
