As sure as Springsteen has had some work done, Fridays are a mainstay when it comes to your week, and is known in certain parts of Canada and Rhode Island as the Gateway to The Weekend, or “The Day Before Saturday”.

In that respect it is the single most important day of the week, and is as well-loved as Monday’s are vehemently loathed.

“Loathe Not, Thy Friday, For It Is The Day Of Relief. The Day of Rejoicing. The Day You Have Worked Towards All Week. A Day of Respite and Rest. A Day of Joints Shots Netflix and Chill for Tomorrow You Either Have to Mow the Lawn or Shovel Snow You Poor Bastard” – Saint Daryl … Patron Saint of Stealing 3rd and Inspirational Gibberish Continue reading

Roxanne Tellier – Politically Incorrect

In the mid nineties, my husband and I decided to do a West Coast trip. We were looking forward to reconnecting with a special family, and enjoying the beauty of California.

But there was one special stopover I was determined to make, one that I had pre-planned and booked as soon as we had decided on the holiday.

I wanted to watch a taping of an episode of Bill Maher’s Politically Incorrect.

In Los Angeles, people beg you to come and be a ‘live audience’ for the shows being taped. But I’ve been on a ton of game shows, a reality show, and some comedy shows, so none of that appealed. But, Bill Maher, on the other hand …

I’d never missed an episode. Every week I waited anxiously for Friday night to come around, and was sure to be planted in front of the telly the moment it began.

That series, Politically Incorrect, ran from 1993 to 2002, first on Comedy Central, and then on ABC.  Ironically, the show was cancelled due to … political incorrectness.

Is that not the most delicious irony?

To quote Crosby, Stills & Nash … “It’s getting to the point, that I’m no fun anymore.”  Well, at least when it comes to debating the psychoses of our current hot topics.

But I CAN still be fun! Here’s my Halloween costume!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! Hopefully most of us will be lucky enough to be gathered together at some point with friends and family to share the bounty of the harvest – or at least the goodies we’ve bought from our local grocers — and that most precious of commodities …. our time.
