I have so much to write about I don’t know where to begin. Clubs, pubs, bars and halls, from one end of the city to the other. Late nights, early mornings, a thousand pictures, private functions, VIP soirees, opening night galas and closing festivities. It’s been a whirlwind of activity and will be impossible to cover in a single column. Lots of sharing to do….

JAIMIE VERNON – MEMORIES FADE

This week marked two important memorial milestones in Rock and Roll History. It was 51 years ago on February 9^th that the Beatles walked into the homes of America –and the world – via ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’. The other was the 56^th anniversary of the Day the Music Died – with Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper perishing in a plane crash on February 3, 1959 [in a sad coincidence, Holly’s bassist in The Crickets, Joe B. Mauldin passed away on February 7^th this year]. I’m of the generation that neither event was contemporaneous to me. I can only measure their importance by the impact crater they left on pop culture…and music specifically.

JAIMIE VERNON – The Dream Never Dies…Just the Dreamer

I had every intention of starting up the long and windy story about the band I was in following my stint with Swindled in the early 1980s as a teenage punk rocker. Moving Targetz lasted 9 years, released two albums and five EPs, and robbed 50+ musicians of their will to live. It’s going to take the better part of this year to tell the tale. The story will have to wait.

This week a musical associate, whom I’ve known casually for about a decade, passed away after a seemingly abbreviated battle with cancer. His name was Rick Gunn.
