Loyal Reader, are you vaguely dissatisfied about some aspect of your life? Are you looking for a fresh outlook, some change which, if not earthshaking, will at least allow you to address some “personal” shortcoming, whether perceived or actual? Well, there are folks out there counting on that in order to buy themselves a fancier car or spend an extra week at some fancy holiday destination.

On Wednesday, the world was horrified to see images of a lifeless 3 year old boy, AylanKurdi, drowned and washed up on the sand on a Tunisian beach. It was a day that changed us. We could no longer look away from the suffering of millions caught in a whirlwind of horror brought about by climate change, political unrest, and unrelenting war.

March 2 was the 10th anniversary of Hunter S. Thompson’s death and a picture of one of his quotes was making the rounds in Facebook. I found the subject matter rather timely! Many of us will find both the truth and the irony in what he had to say.
