It was slice and dice time this past week at Corus Entertainment – a media conglomerate bloated with 3D printer versions of radio stations and formats that run the gamut: talk radio, sports talk, business talk, knitting talk, pet talk, Hot A/C, Hot A/C light, Hot A/C dance, Hot A/C D/C, Adult, Slightly Adult, Slightly More Adult, Prematurely Adult, Classic Rock, Jurassic Rock, Pet Rock, New Rock, Modern Rock, Over The Hill Rock, and all fucking traffic all the fucking time.

During the 50 years preceding the collapse of the music industry – i.e. Before Napster – the music we knew and loved was carefully spooned out and fed to us proportionally by record companies who knew how much we’d consume and for how long. This was done via a sifting process controlled by radio.

We all know free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it. And whether or not we have any knowledge, talent, experience, or insight in regard to any particular subject, there isn’t one of us that doesn’t have an opinion…which is a straight line gateway to that intrusive, rarely-asked-for bit of chatter known as The Suggestion.
Why do we make them? What drives us to open our yaps and share our innermost feelings regarding someone else’s life/work/project? Human Nature, Bub…the need to fix stuff whether it needs fixing or not.
