Peter on the Joy of Piloting Plastic Planes

Ever since I can remember, I have been interested in military history. An adjunct of this interest is that I build plastic models. For a while, I built models of ships, military vehicles and aircraft. After a while, I decided to “neck down” to aircraft alone, in the interests of economy not only financial a), but timewise and storage space wise. As Thoreau wrote “Simplify, simplify, simplify”. I still build model aircraft, although I have been so down lately that I haven’t touched one in quite a while b).

Segarini: Celebrating Mom on Mother’s Day 2017

Posted in Opinion, Review with tags , , , , , , on May 14, 2017 by segarini

Here’s hoping I can post this without too much trouble. I have been having a lot of problems with my computer and its access to the internet. However, I feel confident that the issues will be resolved and all will be rainbows and unicorns again soon.

This is my annual Mother’s Day column about my Mom. I hope it reminds you of yours and brings back some great memories and some stories to share with those you love, and those who loved your mom as much as you do. If your mom is still around, give her a big hug, and a kiss, and tell her that you love her. That’s the one present your Mother will always welcome from you…and the best one you can ever give.

Always….

Cam Indie Week

Columns are going to be few and far between for the next five or six weeks as my workload increases, a move on the home front is imminent, there seems to be BBQ’s and events every weekend and there are a lot of shows coming up. Better than not being busy. Music helps me get through the days and nights and here are several songs that I am currently enjoying.

I am going to save some time and stop trying to come up with clever (or not so clever) titles every week. As you may have noticed I have changed my theme once again and now, because it is much easier and less time consuming, I will be pontificating on ten different things each week. It’s more of a current events type of thing. Here we go….10 CC.

Cam as Chip

Well I had to wait for the DVD to be released but I have finally seen Season One of Vinyl. I first heard about the HBO series a couple of years ago as Nigel Grainge and I grabbed lunch at the Imperial Pub after his keynote address at Indie Week. We were catching up on each other’s careers as we had not seen each other or worked together for years. At MCA I was the Marketing Manager for Nigel’s label Ensign and looked after everyone from The Waterboys and World Party to Sinead O’Connor, The Blue Aeroplanes and Stump. I immediately liked Nigel on first meeting and he taught me a lot about marketing and the music industry (as well as Arsenal). Before he started Ensign Records he worked at Phonogram in London and signed Thin Lizzy, 10 CC and The Boomtown Rats. He is a true music man.

It has been yet another busy week. A birthday, a festival, a ball game, a house party, a couple of bar shows, and, another busy week coming up. This was a lot easier at 37 than it is at 57.

It was 42 years ago next Wednesday when I saw The New York Dolls and Kiss perform at Massey Hall. It was one of my earliest concert going experiences and I still remember the combination of fear and excitement racing through my body.
