If I hadn’t known rock radio was cool before I saw Gentleman Jim Hunter, drivetime disc jockey for KRKT Radio in Albany Oregon, lean out and wave to the crowd which had gathered beneath the huge T&R sign, I would have known it then. The sign was HUGE, the main section trucked in on a double-flatbed , and was the talk of the Willamette Valley as it was erected right next to Interstate 5, then a fairly new project itself.

I need a good 48 hours in a day to even think about keeping up, but if they gave them to me I would more than likely use them napping or watching Howard Stern make a judging ass out of himself on network TV (No, I wouldn’t. I hated him when he was doing his radio and TV shows. After watching him embarrass himself brown-nosing some poor schlep who was lucky enough to make it to the end of some lame circus act of song or dance, it reinforced my initial judgment.

I’m dancing, crying, thinking, sweating, burping and bopping thanks to a handful of musicians who have me freaking out, they’re so good. I know I said 2012 was good. And it was! Hell, it still is, musically. Musicians put out some of the best music I’d heard last year, but goddamn it, 2013 is smokin’ hot! Seriously! And excuse me for a sec whilst I dance the happy dance. You see, No Small Children‘s anthemic Might Get Up Slow is playing right now and will for a few times more because I need some uppers! Shee-it, this is good! In another time, this would be topping the charts and rocking kids out! Even famed ex-radio disc jockey Robert W. Walker sez “Fuh-reeking great!” Jeez, I’m sounding like Barnum & Bailey here, but sometimes you have to let loose, you know?
