Roxanne Tellier – Eye Saw the Light

I’m not a big fan of this ‘aging’ stuff. But unfortunately, dealing with all the things that can go wrong as our bodies mature beats the snot out of the alternative.

Sometimes the drama of politics has to take a number and wait for my attention. This was one of those weeks. I had some routine cataract surgery that didn’t go as well as planned, and it took a lot of strong-arming to get that rectified.

I’ve long had the reputation of being the loudmouthed rebel, who takes no sh*t or prisoners, either for herself, or for those she loves. Not sure if it’s the Irish or the French in me, but that’s just the way I’ve always been. If you come for my people, you’d better come prepared for a fight.

Bob Fixes Everything

Like a cow, I have a Tipping Point.

And I reached it years ago. Or rather, I recognized it years ago.

I became distracted, unable to focus, began having trouble enjoying myself, my mind wandering from problem to problem, overwhelmed, unable to concentrate…and I found that I wasn’t the only one suffering from this malaise.

I started paying more attention to what everyone else was talking about on Social Media, on the TTC, in elevators, in check out lines, and on talk radio.

Talking. Complaining. Whining. Yelling. Arguing. …but doing nothing.

From everyday bullshit to world wide idiocy, we have become numb and complacent and defeated. Negativity rules over Positivity.

Well, Boys and Girls…

Time to put on the tool belt and fix this shit….

Peter Ponders Fellowship and Friends

Posted in Opinion with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 30, 2017 by segarini

Ever since I was a young boy, I have had no trouble making friends. There are advantages to being easy going, nonjudgmental and able to compose a coherent (albeit brief) sentence without the need to use a script, (or at least, there should be advantages). For instance, I have around 5000 Facebook friends ™. These folks range from musicians through relatives, (crazy and otherwise), through plastic modelers all the way to former coworkers.

My first AirBnB guest has arrived. A Brooklyn girl from NYC. A very young (emphasis on the word “young”), freelance film producer who has one of her works showing at the Female Eye Film Festival. Jessica has never been to Toronto before although this is the second time one of her films has been selected to show. With only two full days, unfortunately she won’t have an opportunity to really experience The Big Smoke. However, she was asking me if I knew any clubs with live music…..REALLY!!!

JAIMIE VERNON – YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK

Jaimie Vernon_Viletones My son’s been kicking back and chilling this summer having finished Grade 12. He didn’t want to start a post-secondary education until he could get his bearings, find a job, make some money and attack it without being tens of thousands of dollars in debt at the starting line. Currently, he’s enjoying hanging out with his friends before everyone scatters to the four winds in September. They decided this week to play paintball. The best facility in Toronto is Sgt. Splatter’s near Dufferin & Eglinton.

I am becoming a crusty antiquated old man. I don’t feel old but the numbers don’t lie. I am slowly losing touch with technology, music and fashion. I still think I’m hip but now more time is spent worrying about my hip than being hip. I guess saying hip is no longer hip. One of the highlights of the weekend was picking up four new pairs of “readers” at Dollarama and getting a new battery for my watch. Not a Fitbit, not an Apple, but a watch, which I use for telling time.  I am entering my Grandpa Simpson years.

Segarini: Mayor Bob

Posted in Opinion with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 19, 2014 by segarini

No, I’m not running for Mayor…too much history of missteps, tom foolery, sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I would make the Fords look like Dominican Monks. However, I am hoping that someday we will get a Mayor who loves this city as much as you and I do.

The lady with three boobs, nude pics of Emma Watson, bendy iPhones, lost-luggage sniffing dogs on KLM. Is Facebook really about to start charging for its ‘services?’ And is the U2 iTunes giveaway a recycling of a U2 cassette giveaway back in the 80’s?
