Weather update…..sort of. Snow tires on. Check. Bag o’salt and snow shovel on the front porch. Check. Pots emptied of dirt and herbs harvested. Mostly. Backyard raked and tidied (three times). Check. Scrapers, shovel and snow brushes in the vehicle. Check. Boiler and heating system services. Check. I’m as ready as I’ll ever be to greet old man winter. It’s November and anything is possible. Snow is predicted for this week and even though, technically, it’s autumn until December 21, (winter solstice) I get this not so warm and fuzzy feeling those Colorado lows are getting lower and lower. Winter is going to be knocking on our doors sooner rather than later.

I have to write a column today. It’s supposed to post tomorrow (Wednesday). I should have it done today but……. I don’t have writer’s block. In fact, I have far too much to write about. All kinds of music and such I’d like to share. Events past, just happened and future. Problem is, it doesn’t in fit in a single piece. This is not a “one size fits all”, the old 500 words or less…. Nope, I’m beginning to feel like the late, great, Frank Gutch Jr. I don’t think anything less that 5,000 words could pour out of his brain. I think he got up to 13,000 at one point. I’m neither that verbose or knowledgeable but we did share a deep passion for music and for sharing it. I fear it’s gonna be a very, very, very late night…………………….

There are bad dudes coming in here, bad hombres, bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do …” (SNL, Feb 11/2017)
Do we laugh or cry over Trump’s first 100 days, which he’s cunningly sandwiched into three weeks? At least that’s how it feels, as every day seems to bring some new crisis to the fore, whether by tiny finger tweets, or CNN alerts, or hysterical ‘breaking news!’ posts on social media.

I’m five weeks out of leaving this house, and utterly, utterly frozen in a paralysis of what comes next. Where will I be living? Still trying to figure that out. What do I do with all of this STUFF .. so much on the go, it’s like living in the largest and untidiest stress bubble on the planet.

I don’t listen to the radio much these days…okay….sometimes when I’m driving but that’s mostly for road and weather reports. Music….not so much. What music I do hear is the rotation of the same songs or the same tired formula over and over and over…. I will admit I tune into Q107 but that’s more for the DJ banter and the stories than the music. ….and the commercials, on any station, send me over the edge!
Segarini: The Emmys, I Hear it’s My Birthday, and The VMAs. Part 1 – The Emmys

I love the writers who grace these pages, and Darrell (among other things, the head writer of the Johnny Carson Tonight Show for 3 years) is such a brilliant and entertaining scribe, that I can’t believe he does this for our humble pay; 2 cans of cream corn, a packet of Lik-M-Aid, and occasionally, a chicken.
